Ohio is working hard to make sure that all young children get the basic reading skills they need to be successful in school now and in higher grades.
Understanding a child’s learning and development is critical to both families and educators. In this and previous school years, children took the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment - Literacy (KRA-L) when entering school. In fall 2014, Ohio’s New Kindergarten Readiness Assessment will replace KRA-L.
Ohio is among a growing number of states looking to institute a sea change in the way their early childhood systems are judged and funded as well as how their youngest students are tested.
