Local Braille Production Center Application - Deadline May 15, 2015

The BEST Grant collaborative partners will establish two Local Braille Production Centers (LBPC) in school districts. The establishment of these centers will expand braille production capabilities at the local school district level.  The application and information packet for district’s to apply to become a Local Braille Production Center can be found at the links below.

New Braille Code for Students who are Blind/Visually Impaired

Districts must prepare for the new braille code for students who are blind/visually impaired. A Transition Plan and Transition Timeline have been developed to provide districts with guidance and resources for implementation.

Free Currency Reader available for blind or visually impaired individuals

The Department of Treasury¹s Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is now accepting and processing applications nationwide from blind or visually impaired individuals who wish to receive a free currency reader.

2014 Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities

The revised Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities  became effective on July 1, 2014. The Office for Exceptional Children has provided a brief Summary of Changes to the Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities.  For the complete rule text, refer to the Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities or the Ohio Administrative Code.
