Also, don’t miss the last article about recent law changes and upcoming rules related to resident educator and alternate resident educator licenses. A PDF of this entire edition is available here. Thanks to all who are supporting Ohio’s teachers through this important program.
While IM and RE-1 remain the only required trainings for mentors, advanced mentor trainings are available for all educators. Optional trainings are now posted in STARS through your SAFE account (search keywords “advanced mentor training”).
Instructional Mentoring (IM) and Resident Educator –1 (RE-1) remain the required trainings for mentor certification. Registration for both trainings is now open in the STARS system through your SAFE account. Use “IM” and “RE-1” in the keyword search options.
The online Facilitation Training for those individuals who will serve as summative assessment facilitators is available at no cost to those who sign up for an account. Access the link for the online Facilitation Training here. Share the Facilitation at a Glance guidance document with anyone who may serve in the role of a facilitator.
Ohio is completing the third year of the Resident Educator Program. This past year, over 15,000 resident educators participated in the program, with more than 8,000 active mentors and 3,000+ candidates completing the Resident Educator Summative Assessment for the first time. As the program continues to grow, we want to thank everyone for their commitment to supporting teachers. When we support teachers, we support student learning.
