Awardees Expected to Save More Than $200 Million
COLUMBUS –– Building on the success of the first round of Straight A Fund grants, the Straight A Fund Governing Board recommended 34 innovative and cost effective grants be funded in fiscal year 2015 at their meeting Friday. The recommended grantees estimate savings and spending reductions of $246.7 million over five years.
As a result of Sub. H.B. 342 the following changes to the Straight A Fund have been enacted.
The Straight A Fund is gearing up for the next round for Fiscal Year 15. The $250 million innovative grant project was created by Governor John R. Kasich this past summer. During the first round, 24 grants representing over 150 school districts and partnering organizations were awarded 88.6 million.
The Ohio Controlling Board approved 24 grant applications involving more than 150 school districts and other partners that were recommended as part of Ohio’s new Straight A Fund to encourage innovation in classrooms.
A total of 24 grants from more than 150 individual entities were recommended for a total of $88.6 million in funding Friday by the Straight A Fund Governing Board after a rigorous screening process.
