Ohio House Bill 487 recently established new requirements for earning a high school diploma in Ohio. Thank you for your patience as we waited for the new graduation law to come out of the Ohio General Assembly.
The Ohio Graduation Tests for social studies for 2014-2015 and beyond will be dually aligned with the focus on American History and Modern World History. However, in order to maintain the test requirements (blueprints) of the social studies OGT, there will be a few questions from the following 2002 benchmarks (that are also aligned to Ohio’s New Learning Standards): People in Societies A-C; Geography A-C; Economics A-B; Government A-B; Citizens Rights & Responsibilities A-B.
On June 4, the Ohio General Assembly passed the Mid-Biennium Review, which contains a variety of key education measures. This analysis, prepared by the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, includes summaries of the provisions that will become law when signed by Gov. Kasich.
