Teachers as well as schools and districts implementing the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System this year will benefit from several training and support opportunities offered by ODE and Battelle for Kids. Nearly 100 one-day regional sessions will be offered this year to help educators develop "assessment literacy" by learning to select and develop assessments that measure student growth.
The Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plan Template for use in conjunction with the Third Grade Reading Guarantee is now available under "Teacher Resources."
This Resident Educator Program Coordinator Update outlines important preliminary steps both program coordinators and resident educators should take in preparation for the school year. Also, the department offers suggested language that districts may use to obtain parent authorization of video involving students that is taken to evaluate a resident educator’s teaching. You also will read about training for: a) new Resident Educator mentors, who provide support for resident educators in the first few years of the program; and b) training for RESA facilitators, who will provide support for resident educators taking the RESA, which begins this fall.
A student learning objective is a measurable, long-term academic growth target that a teacher sets at the beginning of the school year for all students or for subgroups of students. Student learning objectives demonstrate a teacher’s impact on student learning. The following are career tech SLO examples that are not intended to be inclusive. They serve as a guide for teacher SLO development by local districts. For overall SLO information, click here.
Train-the-trainer sessions on student growth measures are starting in August.
