Guidance now available to help districts verify all coaching permit trainings

On Oct. 14, school district e-signers will begin confirming that applicants for coaching permits have valid trainings or certifications in all four required areas. To assist with these efforts, the department has prepared a guidance document:

Coaching permit terms changing for certain educators

There will be two new coaching (pupil activity) permits available to certain teachers and administrators who hold specific types of educator licenses beginning Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 14. If they need to get or renew coaching permits, each of these educators will request a new permit with either a four-year or five-year term, depending upon the applicant’s educator license. Permits with three-year terms will remain in place for other applicants.

Districts will verify all training for coaching permit applicants

Beginning Oct. 14, school district e-signers must begin confirming that applicants for coaching (pupil activity) permits have valid trainings or certifications in all four required areas. With each application, the e-signer’s electronic signature will signify official district verification of the applicant meeting the requirements. Districts must decide how they want to verify completion of training.
