This Resident Educator Program Coordinator Update outlines important preliminary steps both program coordinators and resident educators should take in preparation for the school year. Also, the department offers suggested language that districts may use to obtain parent authorization of video involving students that is taken to evaluate a resident educator’s teaching. You also will read about training for: a) new Resident Educator mentors, who provide support for resident educators in the first few years of the program; and b) training for RESA facilitators, who will provide support for resident educators taking the RESA, which begins this fall.
A student learning objective is a measurable, long-term academic growth target that a teacher sets at the beginning of the school year for all students or for subgroups of students. The Ohio Department of Education has created a new document that defines the roles and responsibilities of Facilitators who will support year 3 Resident Educators in the RESA process.
Master Teacher Scoring workshops are coming in September. Topics to be addressed include: creating a Master Teacher Program, supporting teachers during the process, scoring portfolios, and renewing the Master Teacher designation.
