Automated Materials Joining Technologies

10/11/2012

In late summer of 2010, more than two dozen Ohio high school teachers, college faculty and business/industry leaders began the process of developing a new secondary career pathway. Its working title is Automated Materials Joining Technologies.

This evolving pathway focuses on advance materials, robotics, electronics, materials joining/welding and manufacturing knowledge and skills. It will lead to occupations in manufacturing, engineering, biomedicine and more. Ohio is one of 12 states that has joined a consortium in collaboration with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) to create curriculum aligned with state economic drivers. As a result, Ohio will have a high-technology pathway that is project-based encompassing 21st century skill development as well as rigorous math and science.
