Update from the Office of Community Schools

We have a few reminders as we start off this new year.

Notice of Nonrenewal

Sponsors are reminded that notification of nonrenewal to schools you sponsor must be made no later than January 15.

Approval to Change Sponsors

Ohio Revised Code 3314.034 requires community schools that received a grade of "D" or "F" for the performance index score, under division (C)(1)(b) of section 3302.03 of the Revised Code, and an overall grade of "D" or "F" for the value-added progress dimension or another measure of student academic progress if adopted by the State Board of Education, under division (C)(1)(e) of that section, on the most recent Ohio School Report Card, OR received a rating of "does not meet standards" for the annual progress measure and combined graduation rates on the most recent report card issued for the school receive approval from the Department of Education prior to changing sponsors.

Requests for approval to change sponsors must be submitted to the Office of Community Schools no later than February 15. Please contact your consultant or email the Office of Community Schools at community.schools@education.ohio.gov  for additional information.

Enrollment Verification Policy

Updated enrollment verification and attendance policies must be submitted to the office of Community Schools no later than January 31, 2019. Policies must comply with requirements included in HB 21, which was effective September 28, 2018. Additional information on policy requirements can be found here.
