EMIS Newsflash – April 22, 2020
Remote Education Services Survey Closes Friday, April 24
As a reminder, the FY20 Remote Education Services During School Building Closure Data Collection closes this Friday, April 24. This collection is a 9-question survey gathering information from districts regarding the remote education services they have been providing for students during the ordered school building closure. This aggregated data will be shared with the governor’s office in order to assist with decision-making during these unusual times. Refer to the Release Notes
for additional information.
April/May 2020 ODE ITC EMIS Training Update
If you have not yet registered for one of these trainings, note that the sessions on April 29 and April 30 are quickly nearing capacity. Once they reach capacity, those sessions will be closed to new registrants. At this time, the session on Friday, May 1 at 9:00 a.m. still has a number of open spaces.
Microsoft Teams is State of Ohio’s Official Conferencing Platform
As you may have seen recently in EdConnection
, Microsoft Teams is the official conferencing platform for the state of Ohio. Later this year, the ODE ITC EMIS trainings will move from Skype to Teams.
Before we make that transition, be sure to familiarize yourself with that platform so that you can continue to attend these important trainings. Some districts may be blocking Microsoft Teams; check with your IT team to be sure any such blocks have been lifted. The state’s service is hosted in the Microsoft Government Cloud, so security and compliance levels meet or exceed what is necessary for state and local government operations.
We have not yet scheduled this transition; that information will be provided via Newsflash once it is known.
