FY19 Calendar, Staff, Course, Remaining Assessment Data Review Window Open
Beginning Monday, August 12 through Friday, September 6, superintendents must complete a required review of their 2019 calendar, staff, course, Ohio Graduation Test (OGT), OELPA, alternate, and other accountability assessment data reported in EMIS, Ohio’s Education Management Information System. Superintendents must signify whether these data are accurate as they complete and submit the 2019 Data Review for the Report Card Part 2 form.
 
EMIS Data Review and Verification forms are part of EMIS reporting described in Ohio Revised Code 3301.0714. Superintendents are legally required to review and certify the quality of data, as noted in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-14-01 (G). Failing to complete the process may trigger progressive sanctions as outlined in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-17.
 
The superintendent, EMIS coordinator, and superintendent designee can access and fill out the data review forms. However, the forms are not officially submitted to the Department until the superintendent approves the form to complete the process.

FY19 Calendar, Staff, Course, Remaining Assessment Data Appeal Open through August 22
Beginning Monday, August 12 through Thursday, August 22, superintendents can appeal 2019 calendar, staff, course, Ohio Graduation Test (OGT), OELPA, alternate, and other accountability assessment data submitted to EMIS. These data will affect many measures on the 2019 Ohio Report Cards and affect the amount of a district’s state funding. This is the only opportunity to appeal this data.
 
A superintendent who finds inaccurate data should submit an appeal by the August 22 deadline using the appropriate appeal form:
  • 2019 Data Appeal for Final Calendar;
  • 2019 Data Appeal for Final Staff Course;
  • 2019 Data Appeal for OGT;
  • 2019 Data Appeal for Alternate;
  • 2019 Data Appeal for OELPA; or
  • 2019 Data Appeal for Other Accountability Assessments (opens August 15). 
The district superintendent, EMIS coordinator, and superintendent designee can access and fill out the data appeal forms. However, the forms are not officially submitted to the Department until the superintendent approves the form to complete the process.
 
The Ohio Department of Education’s Office of Data Quality encourages districts to submit data appeals before the August 22 deadline. Districts that have their appeals submitted and approved early will have more time to resubmit corrected data.
 
Again, this is the only opportunity to appeal this data. A district’s data will not be subject to appeal during the 2019 funding-data appeals. Districts should use all funding and report card-related reports available to them to review and assess the accuracy of their data before the deadline. The funding-data appeals will give districts the opportunity to appeal cross-district data, such as community school funding flags and overlapping enrollment.
