EMIS Newsflash – August 26, 2019

FY19 Child Outcome Summary Assessment (A) Collection, v3
Please refer to the Release Notes for details regarding this newly posted collection request.
Data Appeal Window Open for Summer Third Grade Reading Data
From Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30, superintendents and EMIS coordinators should check summer third grade reading data on their test vendor files. Like last year, the Department will use the assessment vendor file instead of requiring districts to report the summer third grade reading assessment data via EMIS. If a superintendent finds inaccurate assessment vendor data, submit an appeal by the Aug. 30 deadline as described here.
The superintendent, EMIS coordinator, and superintendent designee can access and complete the data appeal form. The Department does not consider the form to be officially submitted, however, until the superintendent or designee approves it in the OH|ID portal (formerly SAFE).
For answers to questions about data appeals, please contact the Office of Data Quality.

September/October 2019 ODE ITC EMIS Training Sessions
ODE EMIS Training Staff are scheduled for their next round of visits to ITC locations across the state from September 24 through October 8. Some of the topics to be discussed include Federal Child Count, proper certification, and graduation reporting. There will also be a recap of some of the EMIS information that will be shared at the upcoming OEDSA Conference.

EMIS Coordinators interested in attending at a location other than the ITC used for EMIS submissions will need to contact the alternate ITC location in advance to ensure space is available. For training locations, dates, and times, please refer to the September/October Schedule posted on ODE’s website. ITC contact information is available within the OEDS application. Select “Search Organization”, then select “ITC” in the “Search by Organization Type” dropdown.
Files Recently Distributed
New files were copied out to the data collectors. The file names and descriptions are included below. These file descriptions also can be found on our website. These files incorporate the changes to the 2018 and 2019 Dropout Report Card’s High School Test Passage Rate calculation enacted in House Bill 166, the biennial budget bill.  Students in the Class of 2018 and later now are included in the numerator of the calculation if they earn the cumulative performance score needed to graduate using end-of-course assessments.
Dropout Prevention and Recovery Report Card Assessment Passage Rate Information
This file contains one tab (ASSESSPASS_SSIDS) specifying which SSIDs are included in the numerator and denominator of the Assessment Passage Rate for Dropout Prevention and Recovery (DPR) Schools. The tab contains the SSID and two additional columns indicating whether the student is included in the numerator and/or denominator of the calculation (SSID_in_Denominator and SSID_in_Numerator). A “Yes” indicates the student was included and a “No” indicates the student was not included. For questions about this report, please contact Karlyn Geis (
