New Tool for Evaluating Individual Student Progress Toward Graduation
In response to a request from you to help districts better understand and evaluate the graduation progress of students, we are pleased to provide this new tool. This afternoon, we released three new graduation-related reports to assist districts with evaluating the progress of individual students towards meeting graduation requirements. We are also sharing information about this new tool with superintendents, who may request copies of the reports.
 
On the Files tab within the Data Collector, traditional districts and community schools with high school grade levels will find these reports:
  • 2018_GRAD_Cohort-EOC-Asmnt-Detail
  • 2018_GRAD_Cohort-Non-EOC-Pts-Detail
  • 2018_GRAD_Cohort-EOC-Path-Req-Stat
Each report is also marked with a November 30 date, which was the day the data for the report was pulled. Additional details on each of these reports can be found here.
 
In general, these reports show the assessment and related data reported to the Department that impact an individual student’s progress towards meeting the End of Course assessment pathway to graduation. This includes scores for actual assessments taken, as well as the various substitutes and exemptions reported for End of Course assessments.
 
This report is for the 2018 graduation cohort only at this time. The students in the report reflect the 2018 cohort membership as of the end of the 2015-16 school year. By the end of this school year, reports for the 2019 and 2020 cohorts will be added, and the 2018 report will be updated with cohort changes during the 2016-17 school year. In addition, we will be adding reports in the coming months that address the College Readiness (SAT/ACT) and Career (Industry Credential/Work Keys) pathways to graduation.
 
For the next several months, the Department will generate this report and distribute it through the Files tab. It will be updated every 4-6 weeks. When it is updated, it will include new assessment and exemption data reported as of when the report is refreshed. Therefore, if a district believes a student’s status on the report does not reflect complete information, there is an opportunity to report the missing information. Missing End of Course results or substitutions (such as credit before the test was available, AP exams, etc.) or exemptions from the consequences for students with disabilities (FE record) can be reported in any open End of Course collection or the main student enrollment collection, respectively.
 
If there are questions on these reports, please use the standard support process (contact ITC, ITC sends help desk ticket to the Department if needed) and we will research and answer as needed.
