EMIS Newsflash – July 13, 2020


New EMIS Coordinator Training
In August, we are again offering training designed for new EMIS coordinators. We define “new” as those with 3 or fewer years of experience with EMIS reporting. We strongly recommend that all EMIS coordinators who meet this definition plan to attend this training, which consists of four separate topics/sessions.

Due to the current pandemic, we will be offering this training online via Microsoft Teams. The four different topics to be covered include EMIS basics and communications, beginning of year EMIS reporting, the Ohio District Data Exchange (ODDEX), and the data collector. This will not be an all-day training as it has been in the past; instead, topics will be presented one at a time on different days. Each topic will be offered twice. We encourage you to invite other district staff with whom you work and who are involved with EMIS data or reporting to join you in watching these trainings.

Prior registration via STARS is required. An OH|ID account and completion of the STARS User Profile are required to register. Search for keyword “EMIS” within the STARS application to locate the trainings. A Teams meeting invitation will be emailed to each registrant once registration for the session has closed. Additional information on using STARS can be found online.

All registrants are initially placed on a waitlist. This is to ensure that there is enough seating available and to allow new coordinators priority registration. You will receive an email notification of your placement on the waitlist. If you do not receive such a notification, then either you did not complete the registration process (be sure to click the final confirmation button) or your email in STARS is not up to date.

You will receive a second notification email when you are removed from the waitlist. This notice will inform you either that your registration has been confirmed or that your registration has been cancelled.

The schedule of trainings is as follows. We recommend that new coordinators register for one session of each topic. We also recommend starting with the EMIS Basics session. If after attending a session once you feel you would benefit from a repeat, then feel free to register for the second session at that time. Please do not immediately register for all 8 sessions. Registration is now open; it will close two days prior to a scheduled session.
