EMIS Newsflash – July 27, 2018
SDC Now Open
The SDC is now open for review of many of the reports related to the 2018 Report Card data.
SDC Release Notes
SDC release notes are posted in a separate SDC Release Notes document on ODE’s website here
. The website provides a list of SDC reports, a high level description of whether or not each report is ready for district review, and any important additional details about the status of the report, including any known issues associated with the report as of the last date the website is updated.
SDC Release Notes will also continue to be included in the EMIS Newsflashes that go out when the SDC is open.
SDC Release Notes as of July 27, 2018
Upcoming Schedule for the Secure Data Center (SDC) – Revised
- In isolated cases, a student may have taken both the standard and alternate versions of an assessment for the same grade level, for the same test area, and in the same school year. In such cases, the assessments could be counting twice, in both the PI and AMO.
- If you find misreported data, please use the data appeal process as described in the July 16, 2018 EMIS Newsflash. The deadline to file an appeal is today, July 27, 2018, at 11:59pm. The only exception are appeals for gifted data.
The SDC will close over the weekend to load any new appeal data submitted in EMIS and should be open again on Sunday unless there are unforeseen technical issues. Once the SDC reopens on Sunday, see the July 25, 2018, EMIS Newsflash
for the SDC schedule for the rest of the week of July 29.
Upcoming Revisions to Gifted Data in Secure Data Center (SDC)
When the SDC reopens, please review your gifted data to ensure your district has reported accurately in EMIS. Previously, the SDC counted students as gifted if they were ever reported as gifted in a prior year. The updated reports will count students as gifted only if they were reported as gifted during the 2017-2018 school year. Therefore, it is possible a district may not have realized they failed to report gifted data in 2018. If this is the case, please submit a data appeal to correct any 2018 gifted data needed. For questions about gifted reporting, please contact Michelle Neubauer
Updated Data Appeal Deadline for Gifted Data
To give districts additional time to review the updated gifted data in the SDC, the deadline to appeal gifted data has been extended until Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at 11:59pm. To submit an appeal, please continue to use the “2018 Data Appeal for Student Data” form in SAFE; however, only appeals for gifted data will be accepted using that form after the Friday, July 27 deadline. For questions about the data appeal process, please contact the Office of Data Quality
