Public Comment Period Open for EMIS-Related Ohio Administrative Code Section
The Ohio Department of Education staff drafts and edits education-related administrative rules. Prior to any rule being formally proposed for adoption by the State Board of Education or the state superintendent, there is a public comment period to allow for input from affected organizations and individuals.
Ohio Administrative Code Section 3301-14-01 "Operation of the education management information system" describes the operation of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and establishes the “EMIS guidelines,” which are to describe the procedures for collecting and reporting data to the Department and are to be periodically reviewed by external stakeholders.
This section is currently under review. The proposed amendment to the rule updates the EMIS “advisory board” to the EMIS “advisory council,” as authorized under Ohio Revised Code Section 3301.0713. Updates Due to Ohio’s Ordered School-Building Closure
The Department has created a coronavirus-specific page that is updated regularly to provide Ohio’s schools and districts with information and resources during Ohio’s ordered school-building closure. A new section has been posted in response to the recently passed House Bill 164. The bill and page are related to Graduation Flexibility – 2021 and Beyond. For information on how this will impact EMIS reporting, watch for information on the FY21 EMIS Changes webpage.

Preview Redesigned OH|ID Portal
The following message appeared in EdConnection earlier this week.

The OH|ID portal is under construction this summer – but you can get a sneak peek of the changes now! OH|ID is the portal you use to access applications such as Educator Licensure and Records (CORE), the Ohio Educational Directory System (OEDS) and the Learning Management System (LMS).
Later this summer, when the redesign is complete, you will be able to enjoy a dedicated Sites & Applications page, greater control over your privacy and security, and a modern design esthetic. To access all your apps – and to search for new ones – you’ll now click the new Sites & Applications tab, across the top of your screen. From there, you can choose to “favorite” the apps you use most and create shortcuts to them on your main Dashboard.

New EMIS Coordinator Training Coming Soon
We are working to finalize the dates and details for the New EMIS Coodinator Training sessions. The sessions will begin in August and will be offered via Microsoft Teams. As soon as the schedule is finalized, we will include that information in a Newsflash and on our website. This training will be for new EMIS coordinators, which we define as those with up to 3 years of experience with EMIS reporting.
