Early Childhood Education Expansion Funding 2015-2016
Early Childhood Education Funding Now Available for the 2015 – 2016 School Year
Ohio’s General Assembly increased the state’s investment in high-quality early learning preschool services when the governor signed into law House Bill 64, which allocated an additional $15 million to the early childhood education program for Fiscal Year 2016. This program will help an additional 3,675 children receive high-quality preschool during the 2015 – 2016 academic school year.
In order to ensure children are served as quickly as possible this school year, the new funds will be offered to existing high-quality early learning programs within high-needs areas of the state who can immediately serve children. Additional information about this program:
The early childhood education program requirements are posted here. Programs must meet all requirements for funding and have the ability to start services immediately.
The funding distribution method is described here. Awarded programs will be selected based on the distribution method.
The Online Application Prep Worksheet is here. Gather information before sitting down to complete the online application.
Eligible programs are listed here. The application for these funds is due via online application no later than 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 28, 2015. Once awarded programs have been identified, the department will provide further guidance and information through a confirmation award letter and webinar invitation.
These resources will allow Ohio to serve additional children that otherwise would not have access to high-quality preschool experiences. Please contact ELSR@education.ohio.gov or 614-466-4005 with any questions you may have regarding this opportunity.
