Reading Diagnostic Assessments
KINDERGARTEN READING DIAGNOSTIC DATE CHANGE
Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, the reading diagnostic must be administered by the 20th day of instruction of the school year for students in kindergarten. This date change applies to all approved vendor assessments used for the kindergarten reading diagnostic. The September 30th deadline to administer the reading diagnostic to students in grades 1-3 has not changed.
The reading diagnostic, also known as a screener, must be administered by September 30th for grades one, two and three and by the 20th day of instruction for kindergarten students. The reading diagnostic measures whether a student is on track or not on track for reading at grade level according to the previous year’s end-of-year standards.
