Third Grade Alternative Reading Assessments
The alternative reading assessment is a standardized assessment(s) for reading determined by the Ohio Department of Education for the Third Grade Reading Guarantee. It allows a third grade student to demonstrate an acceptable level of reading performance for promotion to the fourth grade.
Alternative Reading Assessment 2018-2019
The Ohio Department of Education reviewed vendor proposals that were submitted in response to the RFQ for the Alternative Assessment for the Third Grade Reading Guarantee. The vendor proposals that met the criteria in the RFQ can be administered by districts and schools in the 2018-2019 school year.
PLEASE NOTE: The Department required updated linking studies for the 2018-2019 school year. All approved vendors submitted updated studies and have gone through the review process. The new studies resulted in a change in promotion scores and are represented above. For any decisions made on or after October 1, 2018, the districts and schools may utilize the new scores for any retained third-grade students under their mid-year promotion policies.
