Facing History and Ourselves offers webinar on literacy and social studies
Facing History and Ourselves’ webinar, Literacy with a Social Studies Lens: Writing for Deeper Learning, is designed for teachers to help students express themselves through writing. Helping students express themselves is central to engaging them in an inspiring, challenging and empowering intellectual journey. Writing—exploratory, formal, playful, provocative—helps students engage themselves and others and deepen their understanding of important historical content and themes. During this webinar, teachers will learn strategies that will help students build informative, explanatory and argumentative writing skills needed to address compelling issues in today's world. They will explore how to move to culturally mediated and equitable practices where all students find their voice, become critical thinkers and are more engaged in their education. The webinar will take place April 2 from 7-8 p.m.
