John F. Kennedy Student Essay Contest

The 2016 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest invites United States high school students to consider the concept of political courage by writing an essay on a U.S. elected official who has chosen to do what is right, rather than what is expedient. A “Profile in Courage” essay is a carefully researched recounting of a story: the story of how an elected official risked his or her career to take a stand based on the dictates of the public good, rather than the dictates of polls, interest groups or even constituents.

Gilder Lehrman Institute Announces Summer Teacher Seminars

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History will conduct 30 teacher seminars in the summer of 2016. The seminars are open to teachers of all subjects, as well as school librarians, National Park Service interpreters, and New Teacher Fellows.

The Center For Holocaust And Humanity Education Offers Programs For Teachers And Students

The Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education is open Monday-Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Center is also open on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additional hours are available by appointment.
