14 Safe and Supportive Learning
The school or school district must provide a positive, supportive and safe school environment so all staff can foster positive collaborative teams where professional learning, sharing and developing effective practices in the school are aligned to the strategic plan and student success. The school and school district must create a culture and climate appropriate for student success.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a general education initiative designed to be a decision making framework that guides the selection, integration and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students. The Ohio PBIS Network, initiated by the Ohio Department of Education Office for Exceptional Children, developed a vision statement which states, All learning environments in Ohio will implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as an effective and proactive framework for improving safety, social competence and academic achievement for all students.
