Guidelines for Identification and Assessment of English Learners

The focus of this document is (1) the initial identification of students whose home or native language is a language other than English, (2) the subsequent assessment of their English proficiency to determine if the students require English language development services and are English learners, and (3) the determination of translation and interpretation needs of parents and guardians. The information in the document is guidance for school personnel for the 2017-2018 school year.
