Choose Kind Challenge!

11/13/2017

As part of #OhioWonderWeek, the Ohio Department of Education challenges students to send at least 5,000 letters spreading kindness to hospitalized children in Ohio by the end of November. Let’s show that our deeds are our monuments and spread some joy to our peers!

Tweet at @OHEducation or send the Department a direct message to let us know how many letters your classroom plans to send! We will announce progress and results as the month progresses. We extend special thanks to the Ohio Children’s Hospital Association for their help on this challenge.

What should your students’ letters include? The simplest way to spread some joy is with handwritten cards or letters. The letters will be distributed to many different age groups. Because letters will be distributed at different times, students do not need to mention specific holidays.

Students may wish to share a favorite book recommendation, a fun story or other good wishes. Try to avoid using phrases such as “get well soon.” Instead, students can share warm thoughts with phrases like “thinking of you” and “sending you a smile.”
