Dropout Prevention and Recovery Schools
Under Ohio Revised Code 3314.017, an academic performance rating and report card system was established for community schools that primarily serve students enrolled in dropout prevention and recovery (DPR) programs. The new rating and report card system effectively eliminated the closure waiver that was previously available under ORC 3314.36. A DPR school not previously designated as such through an exemption waiver under 3314.36, 3302.02(C)(6)(a), or 3313.603 (C) must notify ODE of its intent to operate primarily as a DPR program by sending a letter electronically, signed by the school superintendent and the school’s authorizer, to Steve Tate at email@example.com.
