E-school Application Process, Form, Rubric and Deadline
The versions of the E-school Application Process, Form and Rubric documents posted on ODE’s website and emailed to all sponsors and community schools on May 31, 2013 are final versions. The final version of the e-school Application Form for a new eSchool must be used and submitted to the ODE, Office of Community Schools’ mailbox (Community.Schools@education.ohio.gov) by 11:59 P.M on June 14, 2013 for the e-school Application to be reviewed for approval.
The eSchool application process is designed to determine an applicant’s eligibility and capacity to develop and operate a high quality e-school.
Each application will be rated using the criteria included in the attached e-school Application Rubric and receive a composite score by adding the scores from each of the five sections in the rubric. In addition to the composite score, information pertaining to sponsor and operator experience in terms of statutory compliance will be reviewed.
Each applicant’s awarded point value for each of the five measures, the composite score, and information about the sponsor and operator experience in terms of statutory compliance will be considered by the Superintendent of Public Instruction in making decisions regarding the approval or disapproval of submitted and reviewed applications.
Decisions regarding approval and disapproval are based on an applicant’s scores on measures of experience and quality per Section 3314.013 of the Ohio Revised Code.
The Superintendent of Public Instruction may approve up to five applications for new e-schools to open for the 2013-14 school-year.
