Background checks are required prior to licenses being issued or renewed

State law specifies that all teachers and other school staff members for whom a state license is required (e.g., nurses, physical therapists, counselors, etc.) must have BCI and FBI checks prior to a license being issued or renewed. Background checks must be no older than one year at the time the initial license is issued.
