Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) Toolkit
The Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) Toolkit has been revised for the 2014-2015 school year. These materials will serve as a guide for Ohio’s school administrators to assist in reporting highly qualified teachers and qualified instructional paraprofessionals.
All newly hired core academic teachers and instructional paraprofessionals should be highly qualified upon employment. All veteran teachers of core academic subjects should have met the highly qualified teacher requirement by the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year. All instructional paraprofessionals in Title I buildings or whose positions are paid by Title I targeted assistance funds should also have met the qualified paraprofessional requirement by the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year.
Starting in 2016-2017, intervention specialists of students eligible for the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities in Grades 7-12 will need to comply with new requirements to meet highly qualified teacher status. For more information click here.
