The purpose of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Children and Youth Program is to ensure that all children and youth, including preschoolers, have equal access to the same free and appropriate public education, as non-homeless children and youth. As a parent or other caring adult, when we look to prevent or change particular behaviors in children, we sometimes do so by attempting to instill fear (scare tactics). Prevention experts advise that scare tactics and over-dramatic statements will not get the attention of your child when talking about substance abuse prevention.

done in the Ohio Child Licensing and Quality System.
