Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) Toolkit, 2013-2014

The 2014-2015 HQT Toolkit is currently under development. Check back for updates.

All veteran teachers of core academic subjects should have met the highly qualified teacher requirement by the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year. All instructional paraprofessionals in Title I buildings or whose positions are paid by Title I targeted assistance funds should also have met the qualified paraprofessional requirement by the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year. All newly hired core academic teachers and instructional paraprofessionals should be highly qualified upon employment.

The Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) Reporting Materials Toolkit has been revised for the 2013-2014 school year. These materials will serve as a guide for Ohio’s school administrators to assist in reporting highly qualified teachers and qualified instructional paraprofessionals.

Starting in 2016-2017, intervention specialists of students eligible for the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities in Grades 7-12 will need to comply with new requirements to meet highly qualified teacher status. For more information click here.
