Hearing and Visual Impairment Subject Matter Experts Needed

The Ohio Department of Education has recently initiated changes to the assessments that are needed for PK–12 educator licensure. The NEW Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) will be aligned with appropriate state and national standards. The Ohio Department of Education has contracted with the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson to assist in the development and administration of the assessments.

A Standard Setting and Confirmatory Item Validation Conference is scheduled for the week of April 8th for the new Special Education Specialist: Deaf/Hard of Hearing (April 10-11) and Special Education Specialist: Visually Impaired (April 10) tests in Columbus, Ohio.

ODE is urgently looking for subject matter experts to participate in this important conference. Educators will be asked to provide validity ratings for the items associated with the assessment for their area of expertise and recommend a passing score for the new assessment.

Committee members will be reimbursed for their travel (i.e., ground transportation) at the Federal mileage rate. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided on the meeting days. Committee members are eligible for a $15 a day expense allotment and receipts are not required for reimbursement. Lodging, if required, will be provided at no cost to committee members.

If you are interested in participating, please complete an online application available at:
