The Ohio Teacher Showcase Project highlights ways that Ohio teachers are using technology to support student learning of specific content from Ohio’s New Learning Standards. Teams of Ohio educators have documented their teaching practices through video and lesson materials to provide concrete examples of technology integration. This collection currently includes products from the pilot year of the project that address the New Learning Standards for English language arts.

The Ohio Department of Education is conducting regional meetings for physical education teachers. During these sessions, Ryan Eldridge, the department’s physical education consultant, will share updates to the website and how educators can provide feedback on topics such as the Wellness and Physical Education measures on the Ohio School Report Cards, physical education grade band evaluations and assessments, and more.

Department announces $2.5 Million planning grant for Adult Career Opportunity Pilot Programs
Dr. Richard A. Ross, state superintendent of public instruction, is pleased to announce a funding opportunity for the development of Adult Career Opportunity Pilot Programs.
As many as five community colleges, state community colleges, Ohio technical centers or technical colleges around the state will receive up to $500,000 each in planning grant funds in fiscal year 2015 to develop their own Adult Career Opportunity Pilot Program.
The program, to be implemented in 2015-2016, will be designed to assist adults ages 22 or older in completing their high school diplomas while also earning an industry credential or certificate. The funds will be distributed geographically among five regions.
The application deadline is Nov. 21, 2014.
