State Equity Plan

Ohio's Educator Equity Plan

On July 7, 2014, the U.S. Department of Education announced the Excellent Educators for All Initiative targeted to help states and school districts support great educators for the students who need them the most. As part of this initiative, Ohio submitted Ohio’s 2015 Plan to Ensure Equitable Access to Excellent Educators on June 1, 2015 to the U.S. Department of Education. The plan highlights how Ohio is working toward having an education environment in which poor and minority children are not taught by unqualified, inexperienced or out-of-field teachers at higher rates than other children.

Ohio's Educator Equity Plan was approved in November 2015 by the U.S. Department of Education. The plan submitted is available below.

In 2006, Ohio developed a teacher equity plan focused on closing the gaps in access to highly qualified teachers. The plan presents a comprehensive set of 68 strategies, organized around nine supportive elements, which clearly demonstrate Ohio’s effort to improve the distribution of its most qualified teachers.
