Thanks for efforts made in the Resident Educator Program’s third year

Ohio is completing the third year of the Resident Educator Program. This past year, over 15,000 resident educators participated in the program, with more than 8,000 active mentors and 3,000+ candidates completing the Resident Educator Summative Assessment for the first time. As the program continues to grow, the department thanks everyone for their commitment to supporting teachers. When we support teachers, we support student learning.

Next year, the program will add a fourth year of residency, meaning that teachers will be participating in Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4. Because a four‐year induction program is complex, the Ohio Department of Education provides this program update to help program coordinators as they develop an understanding of this overall system and plan, and implement and report on their districts’ programs. We encourage program coordinators to share this information with mentors, facilitators, resident educators and others in their organizations.
