ODE CORE system to feature updates

The department is happy to announce that by Sept1, we will roll out an updated CORE (Connected Ohio Records for Educators) system that will make program coordinators’ work in registering and entering completion criteria for resident educators a much easier process. The updated system also will improve the functionality of reports. Our goal is to ensure that the system will be more intuitive and responsive to the needs of program coordinators and administrators. An updated CORE user’s manual will serve as a guide to the updated system. We are planning to offer a video or PowerPoint training that will be accessible on our website this fall. Also, we will include a break-out session on CORE at the program coordinator fall network meetings later this year. The department staff looks forward to these meetings and to introducing the improved CORE system.

The workshop will focus on specific skills to prepare mentors for working with resident educators on communication, lesson planning, lesson implementation and self-reflection. During the Mentor Academy, facilitators will provide instruction on formative and summative assessment, as well as how to use assessment results to drive instruction and improve student learning.
