Fees to resume for resident educator one-year license extensions

Last year, the department waived fees for teachers applying for one-year extensions of resident educator and alternative resident educator licenses that were due to expire in June 2015. This fee waiver is expiring, thus starting Feb. 1, 2016, applicants seeking one-year extensions will pay a $40 fee. Those applying for a two-year extension of these licenses will pay $80.

How to enter completion criteria in CORE

The registration window to enter completion criteria for resident educators for the 2015-2016 school year will open on March 2. Program coordinators must enter completion criteria for every resident educator enrolled in the Resident Educator Program by the end of the school year.

Update made to CORE completion criteria screen

The completion criteria screen in CORE has been updated to reflect that program coordinators must now verify and certify that certain actions have or have not been completed by the resident educator for the specific program year that they are registered in CORE.

Retired teachers often are willing and excited to share their passion, experience and expertise. Schools have used the talents of their retired staff as volunteers in a wide variety of situations. Retired teachers may be a perfect fit as resident educator mentors, facilitators and/or colleagues.
