Resident educators can see their registration status in CORE

Resident educators who have previous or current registration records in the Connected Ohio Records for Educators (CORE) can now view those records through the My Educator Profile tool in CORE. The My RE Summary section displays previous or current registration records for participating and completed Resident Educator program years, and it displays any reported Resident Educator Summative Assessment results.

End-of-year reporting for resident educator requirements opens March 2

Program coordinators are required to provide confirmation in CORE that all program requirements have or have not been completed by June 30 of each school year. In previous years, the completion reporting window was June 1-30. This year, the completion criteria reporting window will be March 2 through June 30. Directions are posted here.

Resident educators in their final year of residency are to be engaging in leadership explorations

Resident educators in the last year of their residency are experienced professionals who realize the complexities of teaching and are continually striving to improve their teaching practices. They may be exploring the online Learn to Lead leadership module and resources; exploring professional interests; discovering skills and talents within and outside of their local school learning community; and engaging in collaboration and feedback with other colleagues. Resident educators must pass all Resident Educator Summative Assessment tasks

If candidates are registered for the summative assessment and do not submit one or more of the required five tasks, the candidate will not pass the assessment. Any task that is not submitted will receive a score of “not passed.” Candidates will not pass the summative assessment if they do not submit and pass all of the required tasks.

Reflections offered on the purpose of the Ohio Resident Educator program

The Ohio Resident Educator Program is a four-year program of mentoring support that will culminate in the completion of a statewide summative, performance-based assessment and opportunities for teacher leadership. The benefit of a four-year program is that it allows mentors and other colleagues to work with resident educators over time and help them move deeper into the process of being an effective teacher. The Resident Educator Program, as an integral part of Ohio’s statewide system of lifelong professional development for educators, is driven by the critical reflective question, “How can I be a better educator tomorrow than I was today, and lead others to do the same?”
