The Ohio Department of Education is announcing changes to the Ohio Resident Educator Program and the Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA). The changes will shorten the time commitment needed while maintaining an effective program and performance-based assessment. The Ohio Resident Educator Program can be envisioned as the first years of a journey on a path of continued professional learning that leads educators to more effective practices and excellence in teaching. The four-year residency program consists of a system of support and mentoring, assessing teacher learning, and exploring leadership within the profession.
As a Mentor, you will be working with Resident Educators to provide ongoing instructional support through differentiated mentoring models that allow new teachers to grow and practice the profession of teaching during their initial years of residency.
