Feb. 7, 2014: Deadlines extended to June 1 for Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA) remaining tasks; Tripod survey remains due March 1
The Ohio Department of Education has extended the deadline for ALL remaining RESA tasks to Midnight Eastern Standard Time on Sunday, June 1, 2014. The deadline extension is a result of the continued weather-related school closures and uncertainty regarding further school closures this winter.
The Tripod Student Perception Survey deadline remains March 1
Candidates will still receive their Tripod surveys on Monday, Feb. 10, and will have three weeks to administer it to their students. Candidates should be prepared to adjust their schedules to complete the survey, regardless of additional school closures. Candidates will receive the reports generated from their Tripod surveys on April 15, so that they are able to complete Task 5 by the new June 1 deadline.
New RESA deadline will delay results
The deadline extension for the remaining RESA tasks will delay scoring of the RESA submissions. As a result, candidates will not receive score reports until December 2014. Next school year, program coordinators will register all year 4 resident educators for year 4 of the Resident Educator program regardless of the change in this year’s deadlines. They also will have January through May of 2015 to re-submit any RESA tasks that candidates fail.
We know that candidates have been working diligently on the RESA tasks and we hope this extension gives them the flexibility to submit their best work. However, we caution against waiting until the last minute to complete remaining tasks. We urge all candidates to take the additional time to review the remaining tasks in the submissions system, outline the work that is required, and make a plan for how and when to complete the components of each task.
In the meantime, the RESA Help Desk will remain open Monday through Friday, 2-10 p.m. EST, by calling toll-free (855) 538-8634 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. However, the Help Desk will not maintain extended hours for the next two weekends as previously announced.
