4/28/14 - Plan now for end-of-year resident educator formative progress reviews

4/28/2014

Resident educators complete a Formative Progress Review each year of the program until they begin the RESA. The review varies each year, based on the specific activities outlined for each time period.

Year 1
Through the Resident Educator Year 1 Formative Progress Review, resident educators, mentors and program coordinators will work together to synthesize evidence of practice, reflect on communication and professional growth, and identify areas of professional development needs for Year 2 of the Resident Educator Program. The Year 1 Formative Progress Review, guidance documents and informational PowerPoint are available here.

Year 2
The Resident Educator Year 2 Formative Progress Review provides an opportunity for resident educators, mentors and program coordinators to synthesize evidence of practice, reflect on communication and professional growth, and assess the resident educator’s readiness to prepare for and take the RESA in Year 3. The Year 2 review, guidance documents and an informational PowerPoint are available here.

Year 3 Resident Educators NOT Taking RESA
While completing the Resident Educator Year 3 Formative Progress Review, resident educators NOT taking the RESA will write concise commentaries with analysis of, and reflection on, their teaching practices over time.
