Oct. 24, 2013 Update - Read about the RESA Handbook and the Task 1 Window
Resident educator handbook now available
The Ohio Resident Educator Summative Assessment Handbook is now available at OhioRESA.com. This website will be the source for the most current information on the Resident Educator Summative Assessment. It also will serve as the website where assessment candidates submit their tasks and assessors evaluate those submissions.
The handbook describes in detail each of the five tasks candidates must complete between November 2013 and May 2014. It provides specific directions on how to complete each task, includes a glossary of defined terms and reference materials, and defines how each task will be scored and the rubrics to be used to evaluate candidates’ performances.
Assessment candidates will receive an invitation from Teachscape to register at OhioRESA.com when the window for Task 1 opens in November. Once that registration is complete, candidates can begin submitting their Task 1 materials. Find more information about the handbook and the Resident Educator Summative Assessment at OhioRESA.com.
Save the date for a Fall 2013 Program Coordinator Network meeting
The department will host a day-long meeting on Monday, Nov. 18 in central Ohio and on Tuesday, Nov. 19 in Columbus; specific locations to be determined. Choose from one of the two meetings, where you will learn from department staff and network with other program coordinators about implementing the Ohio Resident Educator Program. Watch your email for more details; registration will be in STARS through your SAFE account.
Pathways to Completion chart available online
The new Pathways to Completion flow chart, posted under the program coordinator heading on the Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA) Web page, provides an “at-a-glance” reference describing the steps resident educators will take as they begin RESA in Year 3, on through their applications for five-year professional licenses following successful completion of RESA and Year 4. The chart also includes information for those who will need to re-take portions of RESA.
