U.S. Census Bureau shares Statistics in Schools classroom resources

The U.S. Census Bureau offers free Statistics in Schools classroom resources that use census statistics as the foundation for learning. The Statistics in Schools program includes more than 200 activities to enhance learning in a variety of subjects.

The new Statistics in Schools materials for the 2020 census will help educate students and adults about the importance of counting everyone in next year’s census, especially children.

Teachers and subject matter experts developed each activity to teach students about the value and everyday use of statistics.

Materials include:
67 new activities for grades preK through 12 that have students use data in interactive ways to build skills in history, math, geography and English;

Large, colorful maps with fun census-based facts about the country and its territories, including state-by-state comparisons;

storybook with activities and a music video for children in preschool and early grades;
Engaging videos produced for elementary, middle and high school grade bands;

Resources for English learners and adult English learner students.
There are many ways to incorporate these resources, including during Constitution Week and 2020 Statistics in Schools Week (March 2-6). New materials will be released for the upcoming school year that teach students about the importance of the 2020 census count and empower them to share this knowledge with adults in their homes. Access resources now and look for new materials at the beginning of the school year.
