Registration opens for new Ohio Assessments for Educators
Eleven new Ohio Assessments for Educators recently were added to the array of tests for candidates who are seeking initial Ohio educator licenses, or licensure in a new area. There are now 39 total Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAEs), which replace the Praxis II series as the required Ohio educator licensure assessments, except for world languages.
Candidates may register now on the Ohio Assessments for Educators website to take the 11 new tests: Chemistry, Computer Information Science, Earth and Space Science, English to Speakers of Other Languages, Integrated Science, Marketing, Physics, Prekindergarten Subtest I and II, School Counselor, School Library Media Specialist and Theater.
Those who are seeking licensure in world languages will continue to use the oral proficiency interview and writing proficiency test from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Ohio Assessments for Educators in the areas of agricultural education, dance and health are expected to be added later in 2014.
For the complete list of available assessments, please visit the Ohio Assessments for Educators website. For information about test requirements per licensure area, see the Ohio Department of Education’s website.
