The Council of Chief State School Officers has named 2020 Ohio Teacher of the Year, Leila Kubesch, as one of four finalists for its 2020 National Teacher of the Year designation. Kubesch teaches Spanish and English to English learners at Norwood Middle School in Norwood, Ohio, and outside the classroom is an advocate for emancipated foster youth.

The U.S. Department of Education has updated its guidance on constitutionally protected prayer and religious expression in public elementary and secondary schools. The guidance covers topics like prayer during noninstructional time, accommodating prayer during instructional time, prayer at graduation, moments of silence, the gathering of religious student groups for prayer, and the rights of teachers and other school employees.
