Now more than ever, students need to see a connection between what they are learning and future career options. They also need the tools to help them start preparing for their dream jobs. The Ohio Department of Education is committed to giving you the resources and tools that support you as you help your students prepare for life after high school.

Ohio's no-cost, career planning system, OhioMeansJobs K-12, offers comprehensive, career exploration tools, online training and resources. Teachers should utilize these available resources to:

  • Help students learn more about their career interests and in-demand jobs;
  • Build résumés;
  • Search for college and training programs;
  • Create a budget based on future expenses; and
  • Develop meaningful academic and career plans for high school and beyond.
OhioMeansJobs K-12 now offers Google Translate, which can translate the site into more than 100 languages. Look for the Google icon in the footer to try it out!

Students also can access the recently-added Work Values tool to see what occupations fit their work style preferences. Based on the O*Net work values, this gives students a new understanding of how the values of achievement, independence, recognition, relationships, support and working conditions impact career satisfaction.
