Highly Qualified Teacher Toolkit 2016-2017 now available

To help districts complete their state requirements to ensure that all teachers of core subjects are highly qualified, the department has posted the Highly Qualified Teacher Toolkit 2016-2017 here. With the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), states are no longer federally required to ensure that all teachers of core subjects are highly qualified. However, Ohio will continue to require highly qualified teachers in core academic subjects in the 2016-2017 transition year as dictated by current state legislation, report card requirements and the state equity plan.

If your school or district has an environmental education program and/or gets involved with efforts to reduce costs through green strategies, you may wish to apply for the Green Ribbon Schools award program. By reviewing the application and highlights of previous winners’ applications, educators can gain new ideas on how to expand or vary their programs.

INFOhio Beach Bags and Camp INFOhio are two sets of free materials that are back by popular demand. INFOhio and the Ohio Department of Education are offering these two resources to give parents more fun ways to keep their children learning at home this summer. No sign-up is necessary. Parents can simply download the packets and work through them with their children at their own pace.
