Ohio adopts K-12 Social and Emotional Learning Standards

Ohio's Social and Emotional Learning Standards, adopted in June, mirror Each Child, Our Future, Ohio's strategic plan for education, in their emphasis on the whole child. Schools and districts will have flexibility in using the standards and deciding whether and how to gauge student progress.

Handwriting instruction guidelines now available

House Bill 58, which became effective on July 1, required the Ohio Department of Education to include supplemental materials for teaching cursive and manuscript writing for schools and districts that wish to teach them.

The U.S. Census Bureau offers free Statistics in Schools classroom resources that use census statistics as the foundation for learning. The Statistics in Schools program includes more than 200 activities to enhance learning in a variety of subjects.
