June Academy offers month-long selection of online and in-person professional development

The Educational Service Center of Central Ohio is hosting a wide variety of learning opportunities during the June Academy. Face-to-face and online options will be available. Select from multi-day, mini-academy options, single-day or half-day options. Topics will include performance task design, project-based learning and the Common Core State Standards. There also is a graduate credit option.

Apply to be a district/building ICoach for INFOhio by April 30

For the second year, INFOhio is looking for energetic individuals employed within Ohio school buildings and districts to become district and building ICoaches. The ICoach designation means that someone has acquired detailed knowledge of INFOhio digital resources and classroom technologies that help them support teaching and learning in their buildings. Individuals accepted to be part of the fiscal year 2015 INFOhio district or building level ICoach team will receive free training this summer.

Practice tests are now available in mathematics

End-of-year practice tests for Grades 3-8 mathematics, algebra I, algebra II and geometry are now available on the PARCC website. These are important resources to help students, teachers and test administrators become familiar with the item types and technology. Also available are performance-based English language arts practice tests in Grades 3-11. All students – not just those involved in the field testing – are welcome to review the test items.

Ohio’s Talent Pool is open for recommendations through May 16

The state of Ohio maintains a file of emerging classroom leaders consisting of distinguished teachers and principals. These educators may be considered for membership on advisory boards and task forces, as well as candidates for special recognition programs. This year, the state is accepting recommendations for teachers of Kindergarten through Grade 5 through Friday, May 16.
