​Educators needed for paid positions to score the Ohio Resident Educator Summative Assessment

The Ohio Department of Education is looking for experienced Ohio educators to work online from home as they score the 2016-2017 Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA). Educopia, the contractor that administers the assessments for the Department, is now collecting contact information from those who will be interested in applying to serve in these paid positions. Applicants must have a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a preK through grade 12 setting.

Ohioans can nominate a teacher for the Presidential Awards of Excellence in Mathematics and Science

Public and private school educators, parents or community members may nominate teachers of grades 7-12 for the Presidential Awards of Excellence in Mathematics and Science. It’s a good idea to start the process soon. Even though nominations are due April 1, each nominated teacher will need time to prepare an application and a videotaped classroom lesson before the application deadline on May 1.

​Operation Prevention offers free teaching tools on opioids for middle and high school

To combat America’s rapidly growing opioid and heroin epidemic, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Discovery Education have announced a joint nationwide education initiative called “Operation Prevention.” Designed for middle and high school students, educators and parents nationwide, Operation Prevention seeks to educate students about the science behind drug addiction and its impact, with resources that help initiate conversations in the home and classroom.

Value-added professional learning sessions now available

Register now for a professional learning session to prepare for the release of Value-Added reports. These sessions are designed to build educators’ capacity to access, navigate, interpret and make diagnostic use of the various SAS® EVAAS® reports. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to leverage district, school and teacher-level value-added reports along with projection reports to accelerate student learning and inform professional practice.
