Applying for the TASC test

Steps to apply for the TASC Test:

1. Create an account on the TASC website

2. Contact your local Career Technical Planning District (CTPD) Office in order to receive a state voucher code. Voucher codes are available and expire June 30, 2019.

3. Test takers who are 18 years of age, must submit a current school year withdrawal form to:

4. Test takers who are 16 - 17 years of age, must submit a current school year withdrawal form and a signed/notarized parental consent form to:

5. Once the withdrawal form and/or parental consent form has been received by the office, the age approval will be entered into the TASC system.

6. Test takers will log back into their TASC account and complete the application process by scheduling the test, entering the voucher code and making the payment.

Age Requirements

Per House Bill 113, Ohio Revised Code 3301.81 - Effective Date: Sept. 14, 2016

Rule: Ohio Administrative Code 3301-41-01 (The rule is currently going through a rule change process)

To take the Ohio High School Equivalence tests, an eligible applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • A test applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A test applicant must be officially withdrawn from school.
  • A test applicant may not have received a high school diploma or honors diploma awarded under section 3313.61, 3313.611, 3313.612, or 3325.08 of the Ohio Revised Code.
  • A copy of the withdrawal form signed by a school official must be submitted to State of Ohio High School Equivalence Office.

Test applicants who are a minimum age of 16 years, but less than 18 years of age may apply under the following criteria

  • A test applicant must be officially withdrawn from school.
  • A test applicant may not have received a high school diploma or honors diploma awarded under section 3313.61, 3313.611, 3313.612, or 3325.08 of the Ohio Revised Code.
  • A copy of the withdrawal form signed by a school official must be submitted to State of Ohio High School Equivalence Office.
  • A test applicant must provide written approval from the parent, guardian or court official. A signed and notarized consent form must be submitted to the State of Ohio High School Equivalence Office.

TASC Fees

The cost of the TASC test is $92. Voucher codes are available by contacting one of your local Career Technical Planning Districts Offices.

Test takers: must be a resident of Ohio. Only first time test takers are eligible for a voucher code. All voucher codes expire on June 30, 2019

Max score of 800
Passing score of 500
(Must also get a 2 out of 8 on the essay piece in Writing)

TASC test subjects

The five subjects tested on the TASC are Reading, Writing (with essay), Math (calc. available for 1st half), Science, and Social Studies.
