2014-2015-Testing-Dates

The 2014-2015 testing dates are below. The new state tests are in the fall (English language arts and mathematics; high school; and only paper) and in the spring. The Ohio Graduation Tests are in the fall and the spring, with an optional administration in the summer. The Ohio Achievement Assessment grade 3, reading only, is in the fall and spring.

The new state tests replace grade 3 math and grades 4-8 Ohio Achievement Assessments. Some students will take the new grade 3 English language arts test in the spring based on the score received on the fall Grade 3 Reading Ohio Achievement Assessment (House Bill 487). The Grade 3 Reading Ohio Achievement Assessment score is the only score to determine which grade 3 reading test the student will take in the spring; the grade 3 reading alternative score cannot be used to determine the test given in the spring. The Ohio Test of English Language Acquisition and the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities are in the spring.

New State Tests

Districts will have flexibility in scheduling the new state tests and choice in the format of the tests. There are two lengths of the test window: a 20-day consecutive school day and a 10-day consecutive school day. Please note the test window scheduled must be consecutive school days.

Districts that select to use a paper format for the English language arts and mathematics tests will have a 15-day window. Within this window, districts can select 10 consecutive school days to administer the tests including makeups. Districts that select to use an online format for the English language arts and mathematics tests will have a 25-day window. Within this window, districts can select 20 consecutive school days to administer the tests including makeups. The extra five days are included in the window for a spring break if the district has one. No professional or inservice days are allowed to be scheduled within the 10- or 20-day test window.

The science and social studies tests have a set 10-day window for both paper and online testing formats. This 10-day window includes makeups

There will be a fall block test window for students who take English language arts and mathematics high school courses. The fall tests will be paper only. Students may take the fall tests whether their course is called a semester course, block course or another term. If the student completes a high school course first semester, they may take the fall tests. There will be no 2014 fall block scheduled for science and social studies courses.

Fall 2014 Block Schedule Tests

Please note the fall block schedule for the end-of-course tests is a longer window due to the holidays.  Districts are allowed only a 10 consecutive school day test window.  For example, a district/school may schedule the first five-day week, skip the next two weeks for holiday vacation and schedule the last five-day week of the window.
